Atchison State Fishing Lake, KS

Constructed in 1956 and opened to fishing for the first time in 1959, Atchison State Fishing Lake and Wildlife Area is 248 acres of natural beauty, the lake covering approximately 66 acres. The west end is shallow water with water depths increasing toward the dam. There is a range of species within and plentiful structure for fish to hide. Largemouth bass and crappie can be found in brush piles, bluegill in weed edges and monster size channel catfish can be found at the fish feeders. Including the lake, approximately 136 acres of wildlife area adjacent to the lake are open to fur trapping and hunting.

Primitive camping is allowed on the south and east side of the lake. Fishing piers, fish feeders, boat ramp and dock, picnic facilities and restrooms are available on site. Boating is allowed on the lake for fishing only.
