Bucks Lake is one of the most consistent trout producers in the western United States. It makes a good family destination, with clean, quality campsites, and is also perfect for know-hows who want to try for something special. Lake records include an 18-pound Mackinaw trout and a 16-pound brown trout, but the lake is also home to rafts of rainbow trout and a sprinkling of kokanee salmon.

Rainbow trout supply the best fishing here. The top spot for that is by Rocky Point, close to where Bucks Creek enters the lake. The old river channel near where Mill Creek pours in is also quite good and has a sprinkling of the big Mackinaws.
