Helton Creek is a stream that originates on the south slope of Mt. Rogers in the VA Highlands, and enters NC near the community of Sturgills. The entire NC portion managed as a Delayed Harvest fishery/Catch and release. The creek contains wild rainbows near the VA line and a mix of rainbows, browns, and brookies all the way to the confluence with the North Fork New River near Shatley Springs, NC. Arguably one of the best trout waters in NC for numbers and large fish.
