3-DAY WEATHER FORECAST:
Lake Gibson is a man-made lake system designed as a reservoir for both Decew Falls Hydroelectric Generation Stations. Its was created by flooding Beaverdams Creek with water from Lake Erie through the Welland Canal. St Catharines also gets some of its drinking water from Lake Gibson and for that reason; motor-propelled boats are not permitted on its waters. This makes pristine fishing conditions for on-shore anglers. No boats creating fish-scaring wakes. No boats polluting the water and killing the fish. No disadvantage to the fisherman restricted to the shore.
Lake Gibson is a great spot to take the kids or a first timer. You’re almost guaranteed to land at least one rock bass if you spend enough time. Theres no steep terrain to navigate and you can park right beside where you plan on casting from.
Additional to the fishing, theres a few benches sprawled throughout the shore where you could snuggle up and watch the geese and swans do their thing.
