Hybrid striped bass and blue catfish have become the most abundant sportfishes in the lake in the last few years. With submersed vegetation becoming more abundant largemouth bass angling has improved. White bass, channel catfish and white crappie fishing continue to be good.

Fishing Cover/Structure

In the area above Interstate 30, standing timber is the most abundant structure and cover in Lake Ray Hubbard. Hydrilla is found in certain areas and attracts largemouth bass. The rock riprap along roadways that cross the reservoir is excellent for fishing.

Tips & Tactics

The heated discharge area on the west side south of I30 is a good place to fish for all kinds of sportfish in Ray Hubbard. Humps and points that extend into the lake are your best bets for hybrids and white bass.Largemouth bass will be found around vegetation or along riprap. Look for submerged brush piles to holdcrappie and white bass schooling in the lower lake in the summer.
