Lake Vesuvius is located in Lawrence County, 11 miles north of Ironton, 32 miles south of Jackson, and is accessible from State Route 93. It supports populations of Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Bluegill and White Crappie, and Redear Sunfish reproduce naturally. Channel Catfish and Saugeye are maintained through periodic stockings. There is an electric motors only restriction and a single boat ramp near the dam serves the entire lake. A small fee is required. The Division of Wildlife activities include monitoring fish populations, stocking of channel catfish and saugeye, construction and placement of fish attractors and water analysis.
