Fishing Cover/Structure

Piers, boat houses, and rip-rap along the dam provide cover for game fish. Man-made brush piles exist throughout the lower lake.

Tips & Tactics

Spinner baits and worms work for largemouth bass in the spring and fall. Crankbaits are best in the summer. Catfish fishing is good year round in this lake with chicken gizzards, blood bait, and crawfish being baits of choice. Crappie are best in winter and spring. Excellent catches are had in the enclosed fishing dock and the marina. Minnows are bait of choice followed by jigs. Brush piles provide great catches of crappie. White bass often surface off the dam in the summer, otherwise they can be caught by trolling shad mimicking crankbaits. Several species of sunfish are available. They are best caught in the summer on small hooks baited with worms under a very small cork. Lots of fun and good to eat, too!
