Doane Pond is located in San Diego county in the beautiful Palomar Mountain State Park. From San Diego, take hwy. 15 North to hwy. 76 East. Turn left (North) up Hwy. S6 and then left onto State Park

The park covers 1,897 acres at an elevation of approx. 5,500 feet. It features several hiking trails, creeks, and a 3-acre pond. Activities are camping, hiking, picnicing, and fishing. Nearby is the famous Palomar Observatory.

The lake is stocked with rainbow trout by the DFG. There are also bluegill, catfish, and bullhead in the lake.
