Lake Norman, located just north of Charlotte, is the largest man-made lake in the Carolinas. It measures 34 miles long with 520 miles of shoreline. Lake Norman provides some of the best freshwater fishing in the state. Game fish include crappie, bluegill, yellow perch, and striped, largemouth and white bass. There is also a park lake at Lake Norman State Park that offers a quieter spot for fishing. Crappie, bluegill, largemouth bass, and yellow perch can be found there.
