Lake Woollomes provides a respite, set as it is in a small park -the kind with lawns and a few picnic spots. An angler's paradise it is not, with some bluegill, catfish, and occasionally a bass. It gets catchable 10- to 12-inch rainbow trout from the Department of Fish and Game. Some folks spend evenings here having a picnic along the shore, tossing out their bait, and waiting for a nibble. Woollomes does cover about 300 acres, and in the barren south valley, any lake, even this one, is considered something special.
