The Smith River is a tributary of the Umpqua River, approximately 70 mi (113 km) long, in southwestern Oregon in the United States. It drains an area of the Central Oregon Coast Range along the central Oregon coast between the main watershed of the Umpqua to the south and the Siuslaw River to the north.It originates in the mountains in northern Douglas County, approximately 10 mi (16 km) west of Cottage Grove, and flows generally west in a winding course through the mountains, passing through the Siuslaw National Forest for approximately 10 mi (16 km) in its lower course. It joins the Umpqua from the north across from Reedsport, approximately 6 mi (10 km) from the mouth of the Umpqua on the Pacific.
