Description

When the bite gets tough and pressured bass turn their noses up at the usual offerings, Steve gives you something they've never seen. This compact 19mm urchin-style soft bait is molded from premium TPE for a lifelike, durable body that holds up cast after cast — and triggers reaction strikes from fish that have learned to ignore conventional plastics.

Its unique forage profile doesn't imitate a single baitfish or craw. Instead, it mimics an entirely different food form, making it a deadly confidence bait on the most heavily fished lakes and rivers. The soft, supple texture and subtle, water-displacing silhouette make every presentation look alive, even at a dead stop.

Why anglers love Steve:

  • Finesse-ready size. At just 19mm, it's purpose-built for the techniques that catch fish when nothing else will.
  • Premium TPE construction. Soft enough for natural action, tough enough to survive multiple bass.
  • Maximum versatility. Rig it on a drop shot, Ned rig, finesse jig, shaky head, or as a compact jig trailer.
  • Built for pressured water. A profile bass haven't seen means more bites in high-traffic fisheries and tournament conditions.

Best techniques: Drop shot · Ned rig · Finesse jig · Shaky head · Jig trailer

Whether you're picking apart a community hole, fishing behind other boats, or scaling down during a cold front, Steve is the finesse edge that turns lookers into biters.

Available in 8 proven colors: Sideshow Steve, Bloodsport, Goldberg, Asteroids, Green Pumpkin, MK 9, Morning Dawn, and Green Machine.

    Decent copy

After owning a few different brands/companies urchins, I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of what's on market, although i haven't owned any from all the custom bait makers out there. These seem to be on par with Prickly pear ones, albeit a slight price increase for MB ones. I heard the phrase "These are made in same factory" multiple times, over the course of the preorder. I don't know what factory that was meant to be from, but they definitely aren't made in the factory Hideup is made or the same material as them.

I've only used the Depth charge for a full day of fishing, without a single bite, so I can't speak for longevity or number of fish they catch before needing replaced. I see no issues using these yet, aside from price. Providing MB can keep them in stock, that might be the single biggest reason to order from MB, since many brands commonly go in and out of stock. Keep in mind, TPE is not the same as Elastomer and most urchins are TPE or Plastisol. The Elastomer Hideup and Strike King uses are proprietary mixes, you won't get exactly the same material as those 2 companies for that reason, understandably so.
