The lake is at an elevation of 5,000 feet and is just about perfect for a fishing/camping vacation. It is secluded, about 100 miles from Oroville, yet accessible to trailered boats. Although not huge, it is big enough, with 15 miles of shoreline. Little islands, coves, and peninsulas give it an intimate feel.

And then there is the fishing, which is good, particularly in the early summer. Fish and Game stocks rainbow trout, brook trout in the 10- to 12-inch class, and Eagle Lake fingerlings, which join a few large, resident brown trout. Most folks employ standard trolling techniques-that is, use a night crawler trailing a set of flashers-or anchor up along a shoreline point or cove and fish with bait.
