Lake Bloomington, a 635-acre reservoir, with 18.5 miles of shoreline, is owned by the City of Bloomington, IL and is maintained and operated by the city’s water department. Built in 1929, Lake Bloomington’s primary purpose is to serve as a source of potable water for the City of Bloomington and several nearby communities. In addition, Lake Bloomington serves as host to over 220 residential sites and numerous public park areas available for outdoor activities.
