Jeremy Francis:
It's December, and we are talking about frogfishing. Why, you ask? Well, because this month's box, December, featured a pretty amazing frog, and I don't want you to sleep on it or you're going to miss out.

Jeremy Francis:
That's right. This month's MONSTERBASS box, the Regional Pro Box, featured a pretty awesome frog, the Sabre Toad by Catch Outdoors. It's a sweet little compact frog. Comes in multiple sizes, multiple colors. We're going to talk about it, why I'm so pumped about this frog.

Jeremy Francis:
But first, let's actually go back, let's go backwards to last April. Why last April? Well, because last April also featured a frog in the MONSTERBASS box. I'll show you a quick clip of that unboxing, and then I'll come back and we'll talk about it.

Jeremy Francis:
... you're going to see here on this, if I can pop it off really quick, is an awesome frog by Blitz Lures. Here's the packaging. This is a Margarita Color Popper, but it's a popping frog. And what I love about this frog, let me show you some of the details here, and I'll hold it close to the camera. Do you see the design of the body and that hump? This is going to allow a great hook-up ratio as the bass grab that body. That curvature right there allows the bite to sink into those hooks.

Jeremy Francis:
Not to hash out the details again, but here's the frog, okay, right here. This is a different color, but the design, the frog, the Blitz lure popping frog, they came in the April MONSTERBASS box. I loved it so much I had to go out and get multiple colors, because it's that good of a frog.

Jeremy Francis:
And the crazy thing is I almost never took out the box, other than that unboxing video, I almost never used it. I almost missed out on what is now my favorite frog to throw. All thanks to MONSTERBASS box, putting in some pretty lures of baits you might have never heard, but certainly ones you should try. Like this Blitz popping frog. The design, the hook-up ratio, the softness of the plastic that I show in that other unboxing video. It's super soft. It's probably been the number one lure that I've caught fish on this year, has been that popping frog.

Jeremy Francis:
The reason why I'm telling you that, to set up this frog, the Sabre Toad by Catch Outdoors is because with a very, very subtle push, those hooks are exposed. Sabre Toad looks like from the top, and the bottom. The realistic eyes that are also there from the front. And I'll tell you that this frog, it's a little bit smaller in size than what that Blitz lure popping frog was, just to show you the size differences. But it's going to be a great little frog to throw, simply because while you'll get bites on this frog- and this is actually a little bit bigger than your normal frog, this smaller compact size. This is the quarter ounce version; they also make a half ounce version on Catch Outdoors. Go check out the half ounce version.

Jeremy Francis:
But that little quarter ounce version, you're going to be able to get it into some tighter places. You're going to be able to work it maybe a little bit more of a finesse presentation. You can also work this a little bit more in open water. And I'm telling you, bass are going to eat it. And because of how soft it is, your hookup ratio is going to be great. Okay? You don't have to boil this frog. You don't have to soften in the plastic. You don't have to bend out the hooks. You don't have to do any of those things.

Jeremy Francis:
And for me, if I'm using a frog and picking a frog, one of the most frustrating things about frogfishing is the misses, is the swing and the miss. Or getting a bite that you've worked so hard to get, and then you're missing a hook set. And I never really blame myself. I either blame the equipment or blame the fish for missing. The truth of the matter is, when you have the right frog and a great lure that's designed really well, as these two are, hang on, hang on, I've got it stuck in my finger, you're going to have a good hookup ratio. It's going to make frogfishing a blast.

Jeremy Francis:
Talk about the equipment real fast. I like to use a heavy duty reel. Sorry, let me take this off. I like to use heavy duty reel. This is a Super Duty by Lew's. That's just what I prefer. You don't necessarily have to have that. But it's a 20 pound drag. I throw it on 50 pound braid because I'm throwing that in and around a lot of grass, so braid is what I have tied on. Throwing it around lily pads, as much junk as I can.

Jeremy Francis:
And I prefer a popping frog, simply because I can work this bait really slow. I can walk it, I can pop it, I can twitch it. I can work fast. I can work it multiple different ways.

Jeremy Francis:
The beauty though of the Sabre Toad and this smaller one is that smaller design on days when it's maybe a little bit harder to get a bite but you still want to catch them top water, that Sabre Toad is going to be a great little lure. And the way that front is designed, it's going to hop really well in the water and bob up and down. So I can't wait to work that frog and to use that smaller presentation.
