5 Largemouth Bass Baits Guaranteed To Land Big Bass

This is going to be a hard one to write since there are so many excellent largemouth bass lures. Their nature makes them susceptible to being caught on just about anything with a hook, but five largemouth bass lures have proven themselves time and time again as top producers.

Jigs

If we were ranking these lures, jigs would have a good shot at claiming to be the best largemouth bass lure everywhere. From swim jigs, pitching jigs, and football jigs – they all catch largemouth bass.

Frogs

The hollow-belly frog is one of the most fun ways to fish for bass because they can be fished just about anywhere and there are few things as exciting as a largemouth blowing up on one.

They come in many colors and both standard and popping versions. They all have their time and place, and frogs are one of the best largemouth bass lures you can use.

Soft Plastic Baits

This is a broad category and includes some favorites like the soft stickbait, ribbon tail worm, and the vast assortment of creature baits that largemouth bass love to bite. The great thing about soft plastic baits is that they can be fished anywhere in the country and produce bites throughout the year. It is up to you to customize and pick the right color, action, and rigging method that works for you.

Crankbait

This is another bait style that can match a wide range of situations. From shallow square bills to deep divers, they are one of the best picks when it comes to largemouth bass lures.

As a general rule, match the color to the water clarity and forage the bass are eating and then select the appropriate diving depth. Often it is best to use a crankbait that dives deeper than the water you are fishing so you can create a commotion and deflection off of the bottom.

Spinnerbaits

The tried and true spinnerbait has likely caught as many largemouth bass as any other lure. They have been around for years and still catch fish. If you were to only have a handful of spinnerbaits, stick with proven colors like chartreuse and white, solid white, or something imitating bluegill. These three colors will cover most any bass fishing situation and will help you land more largemouth bass.

Since largemouth are so aggressive and generally willing to bite, many lures will catch them. Most would agree that if you were limited to just five styles to use, these would be hard to beat.
